Strong Public Schools for Every Child
Strong Public Schools for Every Child
Paula put herself through college while raising a family — she knows firsthand how education can transform lives. Her parents left the segregated South in search of dignity and opportunity, teaching her the value of hard work and the power of a good education. Now, as an adjunct professor and a mother of three, Paula understands what families need.
Every child deserves an excellent education regardless of zip code. Paula will fight for schools that prepare our kids to succeed — in college, careers, and life.
Fully fund K-12 education: Ensure every school has adequate staffing, updated facilities, modern technology, mental health counselors, and strong academics — including STEM, arts, and extracurriculars.
Universal pre-K and childcare: Create more affordable preschool and childcare options for all California families — helping parents work while giving kids a strong start.
Support students who need it most: Provide additional resources for foster youth, homeless students, and kids from low-income backgrounds — including tutoring, mentorship, and wraparound services.
Expand after-school and summer programs: Keep students safe, engaged, and learning with enrichment programs beyond the school day.
Support working parents: Fight for paid family leave and support for new parents — because families shouldn't have to choose between caring for a newborn and paying the bills.
